There are three (3) Administration section groups that allow access to CMS: Manager - This group allows access to content creation and other system information. Manager administrators, in addition to all Author, Editor and Publisher authority, can: - Add, Edit and Delete Menu Navigation Items
- Create, Edit and Delete CMS Site Content Sections and Categories
- Upload Images and Digital Media to the CMS site for use in news articles
Administrator - This group allows access to most administration functions. Super Administrator - This group allows access to all administration functions. |

Registration and login is a simple 3 step process designed to allow the site manager to review resistrants and assign various levels of access authority. First you register by clicking the "Create one" link in the left navigation column under the login section. Fill in the name, username and password fields then send registration. Next you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. This step is for security reasons and verifies you have a legitimate email address. When you click the acknowledgement link an email is sent to the CMS site administrator and you will be assigned the first of 3 levels of site access authority, registered member. You are now ready to login as a member. The final step in the registration process is login. Enter your username and password at the login section in the left navigation column. |

Yes, and it is very easy to do. The formatting of the Home Page -- the number of columns, the number of articles, etc. -- is controlled by the Parameters tab found on the Main Menu Item "Home". GoTo: MENU>MAINMENU and select HOME. In the right column you will see the Parameters... |

Yes, if they are registered users who are logged into the system, and if you have given them permission. There are three user levels which have this power: - Author - This group allows a user to post content, usually via a link in the User Menu.
- Editor - This group allows a user to post and edit any content item from the Front-end.
- Publisher - This group allows a user to post, edit and publish any content item from the Front-end.

Can I show different users different content? |

Within limits. The CMS Content Management User Manager currently only supports a few levels ("groups") of users. You can show different content to different groups, but you cannot show each individual user a unique set of content. Put another way, every user in the group will see the same content as the other users in the group. If you really need this functionality, there are some third party components which add additional flexibility. |

A simple question with a complex answer! It is complex because security issues arise from a variety of sources: your code, your server, the other things running on your server, the users, etc. While CMS itself is relatively secure, you may still experience problems if the server is compromised or if a user gives up a password. The basic steps you should take however include: -
Do not unnecessarily leave directories open with CHMOD set at 777 (configuration.php in particular should be set to chmod 644) -
Delete your old installation directory (don't just rename it!). -
Implement HTTP access controls for your admin login. -
Make all your admin passwords at least 8 characters and containing symbols and numbers as well as letters. There's more that you can do, but it is outside the scope of this FAQ. |

Why can't I delete a Section / Category? |

A Category must be empty of all Content Items before it can be deleted. A Section must be empty of all Categories before it can be deleted. Remember, in CMS, when you delete an item, it moves to the Trash Manager. To delete it permanently, you must go to the Trash Manager and delete the items a second time; only then can you delete the related Category / Section. |

What's the difference between a Section and a Category? |

A Category is a subset of a Section. Content Items belong to Categories; Categories belong to Sections. The only exception to this hierarchy is Static Content, which exists outside of the Sections > Categories structure. |
